Adventures in Bread

One upside of more time at home in lockdown has been more time to bake - as many people have found. Myself and my boyfriend have been trying our hand at making bread, he is particularly enjoying the process! We have been using James Morton's Brilliant Breads. We started with the 'Basic Bread' chapter, which has some great bakes in it.

This is the half white and half wholemeal loaf - the first one I made.

Eight pitta breads - we had these with a falafel salad for lunch, and they are also great with hummus as a snack.

Bread rolls - this was the second batch of bread rolls, with learnings from the first one taken on board.

Focaccia, with a cross-section below.

I've really enjoyed making (and eating!) the various bread we've been making, and would very much recommend James Morton's book if you are looking for a starting point! We've also just been given a small sourdough starter by a friend, so are hoping to put that to good use soon!
